 Reporting Series

In addition to long-form features, I’ve had the opportunity to dive even deeper on topics I’m passion about through series I’ve produced at Morning Brew and Morning Consult. Below, you’ll find links to two active series that are still being updated, both about sports marketing, which is my current beat. Further down are the series I worked on during my two years as brands reporter at Morning Consult, including one about one of the biggest and most lucrative franchises in entertainment history, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as one about the future of the travel industry, and another about the podcast industry at its peak.

December 2021

In this series, Morning Consult considers the business future of Disney’s crown jewel, the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the most lucrative properties in the history of entertainment, the MCU is suddenly threatened from multiple fronts: Several of its beloved heroes have been retired, the theatrical model is in peril and the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated massive shifts in the media consumption habits of superhero fans. Marvel’s future success is not necessarily guaranteed. In order to continue its dominance of global culture over the course of its next phase, the Disney-owned brand will have to adapt.

May 2021

For months, travel experts have pointed to summer 2021 as a turning point for the industry, after a year of lockdowns, stay-at-home orders and the public’s general reluctance to go on trips. Given the pace of the U.S. vaccine rollout and recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reflecting the changing status of the coronavirus pandemic, predictions of a summer marked by the return of leisure travel are primed to come true. This series will explore the ways consumers are planning to travel this summer, and the implications for brands in the travel industry and beyond.

The Public’s Perceptions on Podcasts

By Alyssa Meyers and Sarah Shevenock | Morning Consult

November 2020

Podcasting is having a moment. Listeners are expected to top 100 million by the end of this year, with ad spending projected to reach $1 billion in 2021. But relatively little is known about regular podcast listeners.

Morning Consult interviewed 4,400 U.S. adults, including 1,287 who listen to podcasts at least a few times every week, to gauge their attitudes on everything from the impact of host-read ads to their favorite podcast genres. We even asked the next generation of listeners, Generation Z, what they want to listen to.
